Monster Hunter Alpha – Autographed copies

You can go here and read the free sample chapters.

Here is the preorder information for autographed copies of Monster Hunter Alpha from Uncle Hugo’s.

We are doing it a little bit differently this time. With Monster Hunter Vendetta, they shipped me several hundred pounds of books, I signed them all,and then shipped them to Minnesota. That was expensive. For Hard Magic, I flew out ot Minnesota and signed all the books. Also expensive. 🙂  So this time, I’m signing book-plate stickers. These have the MH logo, and I’m going to sign them, and then mail them to Uncle Hugo’s to stick inside the book. So you still get all my siggy goodness, (a squiggle and a doodle!), and I don’t have to fly anywhere. 🙂

We will be doing the same thing for Dead Six, because my co-author Mike Kupari is going to be in Afghanistan defusing roadside bombs on the release date. So Mike signed 300 D6 bookplates, and I’m going to sign them also and we’ll be sending those out to Uncle Hugos as well.

  1. because my co-author Mike Kupari is going to be in Afghanistan defusing roadside bombs on the release date.

Man. When you guys research a story, you REALLY research a story.

  2. When are they going to ship the HM HCs? My amazon copy arrived weeks ago.

    • Kevin, several of the original ones I signed got squished during shipping to Uncle Hugos. So when I got home they sent me another case to sign, and I shipped it to them last week. So should be pretty soon I would think.

  3. Order in, gotta support Uncle Hugo. And um, Larry, obviously.

  4. Where can we get the MHI bookplates, thats what I want to know. Or I would love to see some wicked MHI stickers up for sale.

    • Decals…bumper stickers…desktop wallpapers….BlackBerry/iPhone backgrounds…need that little green smiley plastered all over everything!

I’ll be getting this book shortly, its taking a major act of willpower to keep from reading the first few chapters online!

  5. Already got the 3 book deal through Amazon. Any chances your squiggly goodness can be had another way? I’ll pay in ‘Pepper Jack’ Cheez-its if necessary.

  6. I just got all giddy and posted it. I’ll devour this one and be waiting in the wings for the next.

  7. I noticed this is softcover. Is there going to be a hardcover version?

    • That’s what I’m wanting to know too. I already read the eARC (loved it!), so I’m not interested in a hard copy unless it’s hardcover 🙂

  8. Just ordered! ^^ Can’t wait!

  9. I only read the prologue and the first chapter so I wouldn’t spoil too much of the plot. But what I did read got me pumped for this book.

  10. The miscalling of a character having used a Nagant rifle was a jarring whupsie. Especially given the ethnicity as a Finn- it would absolutely have been called either a Mosin or Pystkorva.

Only American gunwriters ever called the Russian service rifle a Mosin-Nagant.

In Russia and most of eastern Europe, Nagant is a catch-all term for a revolver, much like “a Colt” or “a peacemaker” in the US- largely because other than the M1895, that’s about all there ever was, besides old No.3 S&W top-breaks.

Other than that, I have to say Earl is way more fun than I was expecting, now that we get inside his head. In the previous books he was just ominous and reserved, now he’s got that stubborn-old-man don’t-care mixed with indestructible don’t-care and comes off like a better, badder Wolverine.

    • Vaarok, when? Aksel was dead. Heather is an American. Aino’s lived in America for the last 40 some odd years and came over here when he was a teenager.

  11. There was a line where she was thinking about grandpa “hunting Russians with a Nagant rifle” and calling them a game species with no bag limit.

  12. […] the first)!  The third book in the Monster Hunter series is now available for pre-order!  Check Larry’s announcement here!  I read the eARC of this book and it was great!  Actually… I think I blogged about […]
