  1. For those who missed the Kickstarter — once Jason gets done fulfilling all the Kickstarter orders, we’ll make the rest of the books available in the Hero Games Online Store, and I believe through interested distributors and retailers as well. Some of the extras (like dice) will also be available, but others must for now remain exclusive to the Kickstarter backers. πŸ˜‰

  2. Pardon me while I squee like a school girl.

  3. How do I get a copy?

  4. I can’t wait!!!!!!!!

  5. Eeeeeeeexcellent, Smithers, Eeeeexcellent.

  6. Jealous, jealous, jealous. Envy, Envy, envy

  7. I missed the Kickstarter (dammit). Make sure you let us know when it’s available to purchase for non-backers.

  8. Why isn’t it here yet? Why!?!?

    • It has to do with the time space continuum being weak/fragile around that much awesome. If awesome moves too fast it could destroy everything.

It’s very complex stuff, but I could totally make up the equations if you need proof.

  9. So basically if I’m not an RPG player I’m forced to pay $60 plus shipping. All for a book that has large portions of which I’m not interested in, in order to get the handbook? Not awesome.

I get that Hero Games is a game company doing this. But unless and until there’s a handbook without the RPG elements I’ll have to pass. I’m sure I’m not the only person who feels this way.

    • This handbook is actually the players guide for the RPG, so removing the RPG elements wouldn’t leave you much.

    • Well, shucks, you must have mistaken me for one of those liberal authors who go out of their way not to hurt anyone’s feelings. πŸ™‚

On a serious note, the handbook only exists BECAUSE of the RPG. The passing is noted and totally understood, but we set out to make a game, and that’s what we did. It’s like the old saying about how you can’t make everybody happy all the time. Hero Games came to me because they wanted to make a game setting for the MHI universe. I jumped onboard because I love games and they’re cool guys. The employee handbook portion is all of the fluffy background bits compiled together about the MH universe. If it wasn’t for the game, then there’s no way in the world I would have ever put that together and published it otherwise.

      • Well, it’s not like it wasn’t understood from day 1, that the employee handbook was part of a RPG game. Guess Brian didn’t get the memo.

    • Damn it, I’m not wearing my galoshes and the river you’re crying is getting deeper. Next I’ll be needing an oar, oh wait that’s passed let me just grab my snorkel… *blub blub* *gurgle*

  10. I am so freaking stoked about this game. I’m a tabletop gamer – mostly wargames, but the ocasional RPG. I love the MHI books. I have several friends that love the MHI books who are not big gamers, but they are the ones who told me about this game.

Unfortunately, I missed the Kickstarter, but it seems I can order the book in a few weeks. I plan to GM a game with my friends who did actually get into the KS.

To that end, as a wargamer, I’ve been painting up 15mm minis to use in the game. The online research I’ve done says that the HERO system works well with a hex grid and miniatures. I can see the MHI stories resulting in a ton of combat. As a wargamer, I’d love to see a squad of MHI personnel face off against zombes, or wolves, or whatever. Serious fun.

Anyway, I’ve been chronicling my mini painting on my blog: http://tabletop.magigames.org/ and specifically with the MHI tag: http://tabletop.magigames.org/?tag=mhi

Love you, Larry. Keep up the good work!

    • David, the HERO System has historically relied on a hex grid for published maps and such, and even measured various game abilities in “hexes” of 2m each. While that’s no longer the case (either in general, or in the HERO System as it appears in the MHI RPG), you certainly can’t go wrong with hexes — not to mention cool painted miniatures like the ones on your blog. πŸ™‚ Good luck with your campaign!

  11. Not a gamer here, but glad I could contribute to the larger scheme of things. Got the package yesterday, and it IS impressive!!! They did good!!!
